Ryan Geiger received his BA in history and Political science and M.Ed. in Counseling and College Student Affairs from Bloomsburg University. He has been working in the international education field for over ten years and is currently working as a Global Engagement Coordinator in Penn State Global where he serves as a liaison to ten Commonwealth Campuses including Beaver, Fayette, Greater Allegheny, Hazleton, Lehigh Valley, New Kensington, Schuylkill, Scranton, Shenango, and Wilkes-Barre. Ryan develops programs to acclimate international students into the university community and build connections with students across campuses and cultures. By partnering with faculty, using current events, and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, Ryan develops programming to enhance global perspectives and intercultural competence among all Penn State students, faculty, and staff. Ryan’s innovative and collaborative approach to student global learning resulted in him receiving the 2022-23 Penn State Global Staff Excellence Award for the Global Learning Unit. Ryan is currently pursuing his Ph.D. in American Studies at Penn State with research interests in U.S. history and Twentieth Century popular culture. Ryan has been an active member of NAFSA Association of International Educators. Ryan has held various positions on the NAFSA Region Eight leadership team, and he assists with the NAFSA RainbowSIG Rainbow Scholarship fundraising and event planning initiatives. Ryan currently lives in Lancaster, Pennsylvania where he volunteers with Lancaster Pride as the Director of Entertainment. In his free time, Ryan enjoys traveling, hiking, teaching spin classes, photography, and cooking.
