Presentation Description: International students are often viewed monolithically to the detriment of their intersectional identities. These students may be minoritized in a variety of ways impacting their educational and developmental experiences. By overlooking the factors that go into the development of LGBTQIA+ identity, these students may face challenges not encountered by their cisgender and heterosexual peers. This presentation will explore the various possibilities in working with these students across offices and institutions to assist in supporting LGBTQIA+ international students.
Learning Objectives:
During our presentation, attendees will be introduced to various identity development models as pertains to LGBTQIA+ international students.
Attendees will additionally be introduced to strategies to work collaboratively across campuses in supporting these students.
After our presentation, attendees will be able to engage stakeholders to better support LGBTQIA+ international students.
